Okay, just going to give fair warning that this is a fairly thought out idea in terms of relationships for these characters. Some points in their history are already thought out, etc. That being said though, I'm going to leave it as up to interpretation as possible, with open names, countries of origin, face claims, and any little subtly of personality you want to include, so it's not too closed minded, I promise!
Anyway, this love square involves 4 adult characters, and so I'm going to tell you a little bit about each of them and a few of their previous interactions. The open characters are A, B, and C (Goko is D).
CHARACTER A. (soon to be taken by fox!) "A" has the most history with Goko. He's a bit younger than Goko is (by how much is your choice), and was a former drug addict on whatever hard drug you want. Most of his history is open, but by the time Gokoro is 19 (he's 30 now), Character A will be slumped and drugged out in an alley in Hokkaido, where Goko will find him for the first time. "A" is rebellious, cynical, and can't hold his temper for anything. He's also very stubborn and hates getting pity or help from anyone, which made the first few months of their acquaintanceship very difficult. Gokoro was very determined to help him get clean though, due to a failed attempt with his father, and "A"'s resistance really brought out a more passionate response in Goko (he got angry for the first time). After a while of living together though, and "A" detoxing, they really get to know each other; Goko's calm and deliberate demeanor calmed down "A"'s more quick-draw temper, and "A" got Goko to feel something more than just the emptiness he usually felt.
Three years into the really good thing they had going, they realized they'd developed feelings for each other when one thing lead to another and they actually slept together. Goko had doubts about his capability for intimacy though, and "A" had issues about commitment, even though he was starting to get over them. He chickened out of saying that though, and said instead that they should just forget it ever happened, actually hoping Goko would contradict him, but Goko was having his own issues, and instead agreed to forget the whole thing. It hurt "A" more than he though it would, and before the end of the next day he'd decided to just leave, and not face the problem.
Six years later (two years ago now), "A" is back on drugs and into petty crimes. After burglarizing this rich old lady's house though, he's tracked down by Gokoro, who'd become a private detective recently in that time. Gokoro immediately knocked out his old friend/lover and took him home, making up an excuse for why he didn't bring him in, and then held him hostage until he got clean again - this time with a bit less sympathy. Despite their second bumpy start, though, they've gotten back on the right foot with each other (though they still don't mention their one night together, even though it's still very much on their minds). "A" has come to help Goko with his cases, getting inside information from connections he made in the crime world for those six years to help Goko solve crimes. They were at a comfortable, but frustrating stalemate. But things weren't going to go that easy.
CHARACTER B. "B" is a big shot criminal, that nobody in their right mind wants to mess with. Whether he's the leader of a gang or just a very high ranking member of one, or whatever sort of crime lord you want, is up to you, but he's definitely far passed the petty crooks Gokoro is used to dealing with. Though his history is up to you, his attitude is 'larger-than-life', cocky, and sadistic. He's just as much of a sweet-talking charmer as he is a vicious killer, and he's got enough things under his control to feel good about himself, and true confidence in his ability to get whatever he wants.
Currently, he wants "A". Sometime during the six years when "A" was on his own, they met, and "B" served as a protector/bad influence for "A" getting him into things a little too deep for him to handle. The interest started out just for amusement purposes, but turned to lust and then genuine attraction over a short period of time, while "B" was playing around with "A". Whether or not that relationship ever really got off the ground, for whatever reason is up to "A" and "B", really. All that's really set is that when "A" went back to Goko and began staying with him and off the streets, that was not part of "B"'s plans for him.
"B" though, plans to win over "A" personally, and he's patient about it. He actually personally came down to meet Gokoro, shoving his gun (actual gun) down Goko's throat and warning him away from "A". He'd planned on breaking in Goko so he'd get even better access to "A", but Goko was able to turn the tables enough to get the gun away from "B" ending them in a stalemate, and he himself warning "B" off of "A". "B" found that funny, and walked away, obviously perfectly willing to play this game he 'knows' he's going to win. He's been going slow at it since then though (which is also almost two years now), slipping into "A"'s life whenever he has time, to tempt him, and keeping one step ahead of Gokoro, who's made it his purpose to hunt down "B" and kill him.
The way this came about was simple. He was there when "B" confronted Goko two years ago, just tagging along to do "B"'s bidding like he normally did, when he saw Gokoro really handle the situation he was in with grace. Really, "B" had put his gun in his mouth, and he barely flinched, if it had been "C", he thought he'd have broken down into hysterics. "C" had been surprisingly smitten by the detective, which "B" was never really ignorant to, and so accepted the job eagerly when he was told to do surveillance on Gokoro.
For the last two years, "C" has obsessed over Goko, planting more and more cameras and recorders in his apartment, more than he really needed. He spent hours and hours pouring over the tapes, and being fascinated by how calm and collected Goko is about everything, how he makes it seem so easy, when "C" himself is a constant bungle of nerves. "C" knows pretty much everything about Goko, can tell the most subtle differences in his behavior form watching him so much, and even used his connections to try to dig up more of Goko's past (which just impressed him even more) and is, pretty much, completely obsessed with him. Gokoro, for his part, has dealt with this strange fan he has with slight confusion, and caution, but he definitely knows about it. "C" gave up subtly when one of his cameras was found.
Sometimes "C" breaks in to leave little presents for Goko, or to take a little forgettable knick knack for himself. Sometimes he'll look through Goko's cases and write helpful notes he thinks will help him (as long the information he gives doesn't betray "B"). And sometimes, he gets up the courage to drug the detective and take him back to his apartment and tie him to a chair. Torture him a bit, maybe, with hot pokers or specially made tasers that he designed himself, just to watch him take it with such a straight, emotionless face (he really can't get over that). Sometimes, "C" just tries to have friendly conversation with him, which isn't all that friendly from Gokoro's side. Sometimes he almost get's up the nerve to stutter out a love confession, but he always chickens out, and he ends up just drugging Goko again and putting him back in his apartment.
Gokoro's opinion of "C" is a bit conflicted. He keeps his gun ready for the times when "C" sneaks into his apartment, and he's constantly irritated by the thought that "C" sees his every move while he's in his apartment (though he pretty much stopped caring by this point). He is also very aware that despite his nature, "C" is a dangerous and destructive criminal, responsible for some heinous crimes, and needs to be brought to justice. Contrary to that though, he feels a bit sorry for "C", and knows that prison would not mix well with the weak and timid criminal, and neither would death. And, secretly he's begun to grow fond of the kidnappings, which have evolved into something like dinner dates with more rope and electroshock.
Getting "C" away from "B" though, will be about as difficult as getting "A" away from Gokoro. And both "B" and Gokoro are the type of men who don't compromise, and will only ever be satisfied with 'all or nothing'. So, who's going to win?

Yeah, so sorry for the huge wall of text, this is a pretty huge plot, but I love it so much. I would love it if anyone took any of these characters, and adding on to this plot is completely welcome. The Square can even cross if you want, and other characters can interfere in this dynamic, and it could just be full of juicy drama! For appearances, I imagine "A" is the shortest, but not too entirely short. "B", as the other seme is about the same size as Goko
That is totally subject to change though, so if anyone wants in on this, please reply!
