He had an average mother and father, and even and older brother he was proud of. He was a tad spoiled because he was the baby of the family but it wasn’t something that affected him too strongly. Though, somewhere around the first grade he and his brother had a sort of disagreement. Basil’s older brother was already quite tired of Basil crying over almost every little upsetting thing and made it clear he wanted nothing to do with him. Unfortunately for Basil, it only made him even sadder and prone to breaking out in tears as a child. Since his brother had left him to fend for himself Basil was always a target of teasing. He was easy to corner, and easy to get a laugh at. Despite this he was never angry, simply afraid of what others might do to him. Because of this he had a hard time making friends early on. Though as he grew a bit older he eventually managed to make a friend or two who didn’t mind how easily upset he was. At home his mother would always encourage him to be pleasant with everyone. Despite her best efforts Basil never became strong, as his brother and father wanted him to be. His father began to disapprove of his oversensitivity and sided with his brother. Both barely acknowledged his existence. Around the fifth grade he was already an embarrassment in his father and brother’s eyes. His mother was the only one who didn’t treat him with any contempt making him grow up as a momma’s boy. He has a greater respect for his mom for accepting him despite his own shortcomings unlike the rest of his family. He doesn’t hate them for being cruel to him, just dislikes them a lot. Nevertheless, Basil is always trying to win them over when he sees them with his cheerfulness because he still loves them both to bits. He’s still pretty much a scaredy cat having gone through the playground bullies without help from his older sibling, but he likes to be happy and tries to push away any negative thoughts. As he grew older he figured he could just avoid anything that made him upset. Running away from anything he deems fearful is his specialty, and he’s become pretty fast from it. He can run pretty fast but only for a small amount at a time. Oh, and he sings to people sometimes when he wants to make friends. In an attempt to get Basil to man up, he was sent away to Chishiki Academy for boys. In essence he was kicked out of his comfortable two story home in the middle of DC, and boarded on a plane into a country he’d never been to before. As if grappling with an entirely new language wasn’t hard enough, Basil was on a completely different schedule from anyone in his family. He gave up constantly trying to remember when to call his parents to check up on them. He was completely cut off from his mom who he still misses a lot. However, becoming a freshman in the Academy didn’t seem that bad to him. Of course he was homesick, but he enjoyed the freedom of being able to do whatever he pleased, as long as he kept his studies up. Basil made friends easily and has enjoyed living in the academy ever since. He's done well enough to proudly say the past three years have been the best of his school career.
