He was just hunting for Mermaids in broad daylight because everyone knew they existed. Though hunting wasn't the correct term for it because Carmine intended to marry his mermaid princess, not kill her. Though she would sell for a very high fortune, that just wasn't something you were supposed to do to a beautiful fish lady. It wouldn't be very gentlemanly of Carmine. Every cool guy had a gentleman inside of him and this boy insisted on being that cool guy. The cool guy. The coolest of the cool. His nerd days of the past were over. Now if only he could part his his little roleplaying hobby, then he could truly give up what he was was.
Unfortunately, despite being dressed in jeans and a white shirt like any normal kid, he wore a red cap, fastened around him with a silver, steel broach. Around his waist was a belt, his sheath hooked onto his left side and a sword visibly inside of it. It wasn't a real sword. It was made from wood. The last thing he wanted was for the police to be called on him and to end up in prison for being armed with a deadly weapon. Sure, Carmine got his weird looks here and there, but after readjusting his sunglasses and politely nodding to each passerby, they went on their way and didn't ask whatever was on their mind. The last thing he wanted was to confess to them that he was looking for the mermaid princess. Otherwise they might try to find her first.
The boy kicked at the sand with his black and white running shoes, staring out into the ocean with his eyes narrowed. "No luck." Carmine took off his glasses, breathing on them and using his cape to wipe them off. That would surely help. When he put them back on, he still saw nothing. Were mermaids nocturnal? If he watched The Little Mermaid correctly, they weren't. How did the guy attract the little mermaid again? Didn't he drown himself by accident? Carmine couldn't remember. That was a little kid's movie. It wasn't cool and mature to watch movies for children. Too bad he didn't know of any adult mermaid movies that didn't involve cannibalistic fish chicks. Those weren't the mermaids he wanted. [/style] |

then he had to find the advertisement about free ice cream. it was kind of like a 'eh, what the heck?' moment. come on, it was free ice cream. at the beach. he had never been to the beach, and he had heard that the hokkaido beach was beautiful. so, he had grabbed a small bag, stuffed a pair of pants and a towel into it, put on some blue swim trunks, and left the academy.
he really should have gotten transition glasses because it was bright.
he didn't care, though. he was on a mission--ice cream. his mother never let him eat ice cream that much back in france, and what she didn't know wouldn't hurt her. but, his want for ice cream would have to wait. why? because, upon arrival at the beach, there was a long line. well, he was already there. why not take a swim? he picked out a shaded area and set down his bag. the boy slipped off his shirt, revealing his pale, unappealing to women (not that he would ever care) chest, and discarded the shirt into his bag.
he didn't take off his glasses. oh, no. he would be as blind as a bat if he did that. besides, his mother made them waterproof.
he took off towards the water, glad that most people were in the line for ice cream. the cool salt water was welcomed against his skin, which was close to overheating from the harsh sunlight. he had never actually... swam before... which was why he stayed near the shallow end, trying his best not to get swept away with the tide. after a little while simply exploring what he could, ashton lifted his head to where only his eyes and nose were above water. blue eyes scanned the shoreline, making sure no one had taken his bag. though, he couldn't help but stare--no, no. not stare. observe. that was much better. he couldn't help but observe a boy, whom he could have sworn went to his school, walking around with... a fake sword? weird...
ooc: derp. failure. and what is with the title? XD

The beautiful piece of royal mermaid ass. Carmine tried to ignore the fact that the boy in the water did have visible legs, but so did Ariel when she came onto land. Did this boy trade his voice to the vile Ursula in exchange for a chance to find the beautiful prince of the land? Well, the mermaid sure found his prince. That prince was Carmine. Of course. The boy kept a firm grip on the hilt of his sword in case any sea monsters threw themselves from the ocean to try and snatch his princess from his grasp before he could even reach him. But he strode toward the water, a cocky smirk on his lips and a bounce in his step.
"Hail, beautiful merman! What brings you to these parts of my land?" Carmine called out before he even reached the kid. He was pretty sure he recognized that mop of black hair from around the school. But he couldn't be entirely sure. This was just one of many black haired kids in the academy. Was he really supposed to be able to distinguish them all from each other.
The boy stopped in his tracks, one hand still on his sword and the other on his hip as he shifted all of his weight onto one leg. Carmine's eyes flickered over the younger male, observing and wondering if he was really worthy to be one of the rulers of the sea. He was cute. It's a fact- definitely a fact- that Carmine is not a homosexual because gay isn't cool. Would gay kids get beat up if being gay was cool? No, they wouldn't. But, man or woman, Carmine couldn't say no to sea royalty. He'd searched far and wide for his princess and had no luck. He wasn't going to pass up this chance just because it was a prince. "Careful, sea dweller. I don't know what will happen to your poor fishy feet if you're exposed to the hot grains of human sand. You wait out there and I'll come get you, capiche?"

mister sunglasses was playing a game of pretend!
oh, that made sense, with the fake sword and all. well, um... if he was supposed to be a merman... then... maybe he should just keep quiet? pfft, like he was going to speak anyway. do merfolk even speak above water? he knew that the ones from marvel could, but... he didn't really know much about the actual merfolk from legends. there was one story he read in his free time about a merman who could only speak under the water, but, then again, he was just on fanfiction.net then. eheh...
ashton blinked again, continuing to cautiously watch mister sunglasses. yes, that was what he was going to call the other boy until he knew his name... heck, he might refer to him as such even then, but only in his head. wait, he was going to... come get him? but... but he... the boy gulped, knowing he probably wasn't going to get out of this... whatever this was.
