It was one of the only times he hadn't worn a jacket outside. In fact, he was in a t-shirt, his bare arms visible for once in his life. They were a very pasty pale, showing that he hadn't allowed the sun to touch them for years. Not just months, but years. This was the first in a long time. It was leaving summer and becoming autumn. The temperatures were dropping, but Ask's room had been really hot that morning. It was the whole reason he left the school coatless. It was a little chilly when he walked to the grocery store with only his t-shirt, but there was no turning back. Despite how badly every person he saw made him want to.
Some people gasped and had to ask him if he was alright or needed to go to a hospital. Others looked at him with disgust. Then there were the groups that laughed like he was some deformed monster. But Ask was very much human, despite the darkened, misshapen skin that was his entire left arm. The burn was more than his arm though. It was his shoulder, his side and his hip, though only his arm was seen with the t-shirt and it still brought staring. People tried not to look and children tried to ask questions. Ask tried to ignore them all, wondering why this had been a good idea in the first place. He tried to keep his arm toward the wall, hoping people would maybe not see it, though it was pretty hard to not see. Probably even harder to not stare.
There was one asshole, different than the rest or who was doing this through a dare, that even went up to Asketill, punched him in his bad arm and dared to ask if it still hurt. Ask wasn't walking the streets anymore. He had ducked into an alley, curled against the wall and rocking back and forth on his heels. He hugged his arm close, his breathing shaky as he tried to massage the pain away. Now it would probably bruise as well as burn. The burn was sensitive and hurt twenty times more than if the male had punched the other arm. There were tears welling up in Asketill's eyes, wondering how he was supposed to get home. Maybe he could afford a jacket? As if he knew where the nearest clothing store was. The bowler hat atop his head was soon tugged down over his eyes, hiding the dripping tears and realizing that he could just sit here all day. It was barely after noon, but he could sit and wait until it was night. No one would see it then and no one would see him. Ask didn't care about getting his groceries anymore. He didn't care about getting a warm meal, studying or even finishing his homework. Asketill just wanted to hide for a few- or a lot- of hours longer. [/style] |

The blonde hummed to himself as he left the cute little café with his belly filled and a lone giant chocolate chip cookie in his hand. He’d only munched on it once or twice but it was so sweet…he just had to keep going. Despite his stomach being full and all. Maybe he was just a sad, little, fatty, but at least he ate what he wanted when he wanted. He had a little money and he would spend it on all the sweets he could afford. Maybe even some hot chocolate. Basil covered up the cookie and stuffed in into his hoodie pocket to keep it warm. Today was just going great~
As the student began taking the route back to the academy he noticed there seemed to be some sort of commotion on the other side of the street. He couldn’t tell what exactly with such a gathering of people. Maybe the circus was in town? Or some really cool street performer? Actually didn’t street performers gather around the park? He watched, slowing down as he tried to figure out what all the ruckus was. All he saw was a familiar looking hat atop of another person’s head. It was only a glimpse before whoever was wearing it disappeared behind a shop. Basil bit his lip worriedly. It had looked like Frosty. The hat was definitely one he would wear. He couldn’t just go home with a reasonable doubt in his mind. He had to make sure, even if he wasn’t exactly sure why so many people had been making a big deal out of the guy.
Making sure to check both ways Basil quickly crossed the street before attempting to find whoever he had seen. Ducking into the unfamiliar alleyway as quietly as he could, Basil crept forward cautiously. “A-Ask?” he called out ready to pull out of the dangerous place if it wasn’t his friend.

Ask knew that voice anywhere and, despite the fact that he grew annoyed sometimes from how often he heard it, he was relieved to hear it now. He woke up to this voice. He fell asleep to this voice. There was no hesitation as Ask brought himself back onto his feet and hurried toward the child. Normally, Asketill wouldn't be so affectionate. But he was so happy to see a friend now instead of someone who was going to punch him in the shoulder. His arms swung around Basil's smaller frame, enveloping him in a tight hug and taking in a deep breath- breathing in the other's familiar and safe scent.
"Basil, what are you doing out here?" Did it matter? Asketill should just be happy that the boy was here at all. He wore a hoodie too. Ask wondered if he could some how get his hands on it. He needed to cover up. He couldn't go out with that burn showing anymore. He thought, with how nice Basil and a few others treated him at school even with the burn, maybe everyone else would ignore it and treat him like he was normal too. But after this little test, that theory proved to be wrong. Not everyone was as nice as the boy that Asketill held dearly right now in both his arms and heart.[/style] | [atrb=vAlign, top][style=padding: 10px; font-size: 50px; text-align: center; color: #a16868; width: 80px; margin-left: 7px;]✾ [style=font-family: arial narrow; font-size: 18px; font-style: italic; text-transform: lowercase;]absent friends[/style]

The fear the darkened alley had brought him disappeared quickly enough as a pair of arms wrapped around his body. It didn’t hurt immediately, so the blonde relaxed into the hug. Recognizing his companion he took no time to envelope his own arms around Ask’s torso and nuzzle his roommate. He’d been right to come along after all. But what exactly was the brunette doing out of their dorm in a T-shirt? Basil had found out about why Ask refused to wear anything that showed off his imperfect arms but he didn’t mind. He could have helped it if he got burned by something right? Still, Ask wasn’t the person to simply forget something like a jacket to cover up. The guy was always touchy about his body.
The student laughed softly, a smile quickly taking over his confused expression. “I got a little craving for something sweet.” He explained as he squeezed his friend. Basil had in fact run out of sweets. He’d gone through all his reserves and hadn’t found anything left. It was probably bad for him to have gone through so much candy so quickly but he couldn’t help himself. “I didn’t expect to get such a big treat when I left though.” The blonde joked happily. His roommate wasn’t ever ok with public displays of affection. Granted they were in a dirty alley but still. This was totally a hug in a public area. Something Basil rarely had the chance to do with the picky brunette.
“Anyway, what are you up to?” he couldn’t help but ask. Usually the guy hunkered down in the dorm to do homework. He didn’t go out in showy clothing and hid in alleys. Oh. The male frowned hoping his friend was alright. Something bad had to have happened. Hopefully he wasn’t injured or anything!
