{{P A S T}}--------------------------------------------- This one is pretty vague and even a bit of a stretch, but it is possible that one of Rin's childhood friends found his way to Hokkaido. He could work at the school or outside and be pretty much anything so long as ages are kept close, perhaps one year of variation at most.
This essentially boils down to a free childhood history: small conservative town, playing boy games with other boys, one boy disappeared one day, and then whatever life adventure you want.
The relation is something that may never even come to light since Rin isn't exactly recognizable as his past self nor hoping to find anyone from back in the day. Still, it could make for an interesting coincidence, and should things play out, a possible reconnect. Or both parties will be mutually horrified. Whatever works.

i'm interested in trying this out! is there any particular personality you'd want the character to have? and, uh, any fc you have in mind? c:

Rad! c: I have ideas for a personality, but I think it'd be more fun for you if you tackled it all your own? Because this is just a bit of shared history, there's not much required to fill the role outside being a man in his early twenties. If their personalities wouldn't have meshed too well, then they could have been the enemies of the group. If everything fits, then cheers for regular friendship. Maybe time has changed your guy just as much. Surprise me? 8) Also, because Rin was entirely different as a kid, just ask and I can give you the skinny on him whenever.
Aaand before I say something off the wall, "fc" stands for? XD;

I'm sorry for the wait! I'm still hundreds of miles from home, but awesomely, my personal laptop decided to start working again! 8'D so this post is going to be so long and i'm so sorry
More to the point, I think Toru is perfect. Both he and Hayate would have been relatively timid compared to the others and burdened by disapproving authority figures, so they'd have some things in common there.
Also, there are a few things I forgot to mention, but would like to now. Because of the small town, I imagine that the school was one that taught students from ages five to eighteen and that most grade levels had but one or two students, if any. As a result, the group would have had a wide range of ages, with the leader figure likely being the oldest boy. Or something along those lines. X) As another note, I also imagine that during the years leading up to Hayate's disappearance, he would have gradually withdrawn from the group until--in the last year, last few months, or something like that--he cut them off completely.
Are there any sort of adorable childhood memories you'd like them to share? Anything you want to set in stone that they would possibly recognize in one another? Would Toru's singing talent have showed up in his youth? Also, do you have any preference as to how to kick off a roleplay? :3

i'm so so sorry for my sudden disappearance ;A; my exam results dipped and had to lock up my computer hahah ;; but i'll make the necessary edits to the application when cuppy gives me the go ahead!
and adorable childhood memories would be absolutely brilliant ♥ toru wouldn't have been a briliant singer in his youth, but his interest in music would have sprouted up around that age - he might have given a shot at composing a few songs, which he then shared with rin? c| as for roleplays, i don't have any particular preferences! o/

No need to worry! I hope everything is better now? :3
Rin fails at artsy things, so he'd have enjoyed and been easily impressed by anything Toru wanted to show him. Before I say anything more, Sinclair is in the process of putting together a character that may possibly make this a triad of past friendship, and I wanted to make sure that was all right with you. o3o

much better! i've had nothing but spartan studying sessions for the past few weeks hahah "orz
aww rin <3 toru still keeps some of those scores with him, even if he doesn't show them to people. they could possibly jog a few memories of their childhood years - if you'd like them to remember each other, of course!
and yes, if course it is!

Ach. D8 That sounds so stressful, but congratulations on being such an awesome student! /patpat
Memory-jogging is always good! |D How much Rin would remember depends on the type of friendship they had and how close they were. (Do you have something in mind for this? If so, do share! If not, I could possibly come up with something, but I'd need to ask for a description of how Toru was as a child, like the things he did, how he interacted with others, etc.)
Regardless, names and faces will be iffy things to remember, but most likely Rin would be able to recall things like songs. I'm thinking, however, that even if Rin did remember--even if he was directly confronted with it--he'd deny being Hayate.
And all right. I've invited her to pop in. n.n

Triad friendship go go go!
Good to see you back, Jun! even though we haven't actually talked before
Maybe the three of them could have been really close childhood friends? Touya (the name of my character) would have been and still is good a drawing, and he'd see Toru's singing as an art as well^^
I was thinking that maybe Toru could have suggested that Touya tried applying for work at Chishiki academy as well? Since well he'd have gone to Tokyo (urgh if I'm getting the town wrong then please don't shoot me?) with pretty much no money at all, not realising that he would have to pay something called rent and be in desperate need of a job when he got there. And if he knew that Toru was there as well then he might have asked for his advice. But I dunno if you like that idea?
Lol even if Rin denied being Hayate it wouldn't stop Touya from believing that he was ;3 He'd keep pestering him into admitting it and be all like "Why are you lying, aren't you happy to see me/us? o.o"

/noms on sinclair
And so I can say everything that I think is relevant, length-bomb, ahoy! XD;;
Considering that it would be a town small enough for one school, they could have been the three boys closest to each other's ages and automatically been tight bros for that reason. Hayate would have felt special just being around such young talent. :3
Hmn. Since he has no outstanding gift himself, I suppose he'd have been all about helping the others so he could feel useful. If either boy needed a shoulder to cry on, Hayate would have happily volunteered. That would probably be one of the few instances in which he wouldn't have minded physical contact, since generally-speaking Hayate was very polite and reserved. Similar to himself in the present, he'd have a habit of keeping people at arm's length emotionally, as well. P8 And of course, no tears. Ever.
I'm wondering if maybe because he seems the most self-assured, Touya would be the one to bring them together? I know that Hayate never would have intended to make friends, so an invitation would be needed in his case.
As for crazy background information, Hayate would have seldom engaged in social activities outside of school--seldom meaning in spurts fluctuating between regular attendance and zero attendance--due to responsibilities back at home. As he would say, Oishasama needs him, and his ridiculous amounts of love and admiration for the man would have been obvious, probably to the point of "let's not get him started." It'd have been rare for Hayate to visit someone else's house, and no one would have ever been allowed near his, because Oishasama says so.
All of this, combined with the fact that Hayate would have stretches of "deathly ill" absence, from a few days to maybe a week at a time, makes me think that although he'd have tried pretty hard to make up for lost time, the effect of his missing out would still exist.
I'm under the impression that the sweeter, majority of memories with him would involve Hayate patching up scrapes and just overall making sure everyone is as happy as can be. When things get more personal, however, the memory runs straight into creepy territory at a sprint.
Like the surefire way to make Hayate mad is to suggest that Oishasama isn't so great, and he may just deck a guy over it. Asking why he likes the man so much sets off a speech about how depressed Oishasama is and how important it is to make him happy again. When he was little, taking away his stuffed rabbit warrented a freak-out.
Holidays? Birthdays? Hayate doesn't celebrate, but he and his uncle totally light candles to honor the dead. That's close enough, right? If anyone did--by some miracle--happen to catch sight of a nasty bruise or something, Hayate would have talked about being a hero that fights demons. Don't buy it? Okay, okay, you got him, he fell out of a tree.
As a preteen, he would have begun to lose his sweeter edge bit by bit and become prone to agitation. For instance, when he decided he wanted to perfect his swing, he would get mad if his designated pitcher wanted to quit before he was ready. He'd have begun to pick up cynicism, lose interest in people and things, then brush off any queries into what the hell was going on. And, really, just all other such oddness before his total shutdown of all non-family-based interaction.
And that shutdown would have been pretty nasty if he was questioned about it too much. Like the whole "I hate you and never want to see you again" sort of thing.
In case it isn't already crystal clear, Hayate is a poster child for "abused kid." =v=
Yep, I think that's everything. Hopefully it wasn't a waste and some ideas can be quickly generated, neh? XD;
Town-wise, I don't think a specific city is named and we're just calling it Hokkaido, as in the island. Or at least, that's what I've gathered. /dunno Do you know, Jun?
Aww, Touya ~ ;^; And Rin would totally be horrified to see them. |D

!!! *offers chocolate to nom on instead*
Ohh I love length bombs!!
*nods* I think that makes sense, yeah. Are you okay with that, Jun? Touya would have thought that Hayate was special whether he had a talent or not ;3
Aww young Hayate would be so sweet! Touya would appreciate it a lot! ^^ Probably come crying to him when his mom took away another one of his treasures ;3
Well Touya would difinitely have tried to bring them all together so I'm assuming that is what initially happened. I hope that you are okay with that? He'd try dragging them along on adventures even if they didn't want to^^;;
Okay... now I'm officially confused. Who is Oishasama? |D;; ... his teddy bear?
Lol you know Hayate would have been able to fool Touya as a child. He'd be all like 'you're a super hero?! That's so awesome! What kind of special powers do you have?' with sparkly eyes and all |D;;
Touya would be so confused when Hayate started acting all strange like that and feel really hurt if Hayate ever told him that he hated him. Nasty break that would end up being ;x; though Touya would still not be that easy to get rid off^^;;
I take it that it was his parents who abused him then?
Oh it's not a waste at all! Let me finish my app and I'll join you guys on dicussing ideas! ^^
........ *facepalm* Can't believe I actually managed to forget that!

I see much hugging and hair-petting for baby Touya. X3 And then a depressing breakup. :C
Forced adventures sound amazing to me. What about you, Jun? Although it may have taken him some time to warm up to the idea, I can say that Hayate would have been all over the chance to be all brave and knightly--and maybe rescue Toru/Touya from something. And of course if Touya believed his BS, he'd have milked it and spun together an elaborate superhero story complete with transformation sequence.
Like I tried to spit out in the c-box, I'm so sorry for being so vague. I jumped ahead of myself. P8 To clarify, Hayate's mother died in childbirth and his father supposedly committed suicide soon after. He ended up under his uncle's wing, and the guy was simply not emotionally equipped to raise a child. Despite all the emphasis on the importance of "family," he raised Hayate to refer to him by title rather than familial relation, hence "Oishasama" (doctor). Hopefully that clarifies things. o3o; So sorry!!
