He was born their eldest child, but unable to see his birth father. After his step-father found out, he kept his mother from seeing him again. He was raised in the home without knowledge of his true father till the age of seven. That was when he met the man who was truly his father, and who truly loved him. He gave Kohaku his dogtags and tried to visit him as often he could. His step-father found out though, and moved the family. He wanted nothing to do with that man. When the family moved, Kohaku joined a new school and started to gain friends. He focused mainly on his studies, which his step-father pushed him hard on. He shoved the boy in ttoextra courses, tutoring, anything he could. He was a man who held a high calibre job, and he expected the same from his 'son'. After the move, his mother bore two more children. A young girl, and another son. After that new son was born, things changed for Kohaku. His step-father stopped focusing on him - now that he had a blood child, he didn't need the boy. Kohaku was thankful though, it meant he had more freedom. So he started to live the way he wanted - though it caused tension between him and his step-father. Their fights got more violent now that Kohaku started to yell back. They were no longer shouted, but hands were raised - and striking. The fights grew more and more violent the older Kohaku got -- he became more wild and his step-father became less and less accepting of it. Things changed when Kohaku was 15 though. His mother and a close family friend were lost in a car crash. It was a large tragic event that shook the boy bad. Enough that he stopped going to school - he stopped talking all together. After a few months of this game, his step-father had enough. He moved the family to Japan, to work at a new hospital chain that opened there. He moved the family in hopes the change of environment would change them. He enrolled the youngest son in a private school, while Kohaku and his sister registered to their own school. She joined a school that was largely into arts, while Kohaku joined Chishiki. He has been working hard to catch up on his grades, and has been in the school since the start of the year.
