[♕] hardworking: and how. he loves work and loves being busy. as long as the task is challenging, anyway
[♕] gullible: he doesn't act like it, but he's pretty gullible. tell him you'll get good fortune if you walk around the school twice, he'll deny it ... then try it when no one's around
[♕] impatient: he absolutely hates people who run late. hates it.
[♕] perfectionist: with everything he does, he has to make sure it's the absolute best.
[♕] temperamental: he's very easy to piss off. very very easy. just mess up somehow or tease him a little, and he's bound to shout at you.
[♕] violent: and when he's pissed off, he tends to get ... somewhat violent. like smacking you at the back of your head
[♕] easily embarrassed: he's really mostly violent because he gets embarrassed. and it's not really hard to get him embarrassed. just talk about his (non-existent) love life or the whole ghost thing, or any other embarrassing things, really, and you'll get him all embarrassed and blushing.
[♕] low self-esteem: he may act all confident, but he has a rather low self-esteem. he doesn't think he's good at things, and often second thinks most of the things he does. not to mention he takes a lot of comments to heart
[♕] inhibited: he's not very open to a lot of people. most people - everyone, really. it's pretty hard to get him to come out of his shell, mostly because he's afraid of getting close to people, with any sort of relationship - friends, romantic, anything.
[♕] (very) superstitious: he tries to keep it under wraps, but he's quite superstitious. he believes in fantastical creatures, and especially ghosts. ... which he's deathly afraid of.[/ul]

formerly living in hokkaido, saku grew up as the youngest in the household. he has an older sister, followed by an older brother. both his grandparents lived with them as well, often doting on the youngest child. however, this didn't mean he was spoiled to death by his parents. in fact, it was the opposite - he was worked the hardest. he was expected to do his best in school, and especially get the best grades. he got into a lot of extra-curricular activities, a lot of clubs and a lot of sports, where he quickly found he wasn't the best at and quickly avoided it. he supposed this was because of his imaginary friend.
aki was fun, aki was different. he was older than saku but he made him laugh a lot. he listened, and thus saku found a lot of comfort in him. only his parents thought he was strange. he was around three years old, nearing four, when aki suddenly appeared, and when saku said his new friend was coming over for a sleepover, even introduced aki to them, they just ... couldn't see him. it was strange how saku would suddenly talk as if aki was there, or they'd see him in his room, telling aki stories about other kids, or his first day or hey, did you know salt in chocolate milk makes it taste better we should try it some time!
in response, they made him work. work work work, enrolled him in a lot of different classes, gave him a ot of work, made him grow up so fast that he forgot all about aki. it was just work for him. but then his brother mentioned aki and told him he was talking to a ghost. a ghost. he was told his brother found the boy's grave, and that he died on the very spot his room was built. the thought made saku shiver, got him scared so bad that he absolutely refused to go into his room for a month, instead stayed in his brother's room, asking other people to get him clothes and other things. it scared him, and he'd refuse it if people ask, but he did end up switching rooms with his brother.
but not for long.
when he was fourteen, the family made the big decision to move to tokyo. the business was expanding and it came to the point where they had to take it to the capital of the country. they moved, much to saku's relief, and eventually settled in. he had a new school, a new home, new friends -
wait, scratch that last one. he barely had any friends, much like his time in hokkaido. he was always so focused on his work that he barely registered the thought of making friends. when he got into his new school, he realized - he had to. he needed to make friends. it was ... lonely. being in a new place, and in a new school. it never bothered him before, but for some reason, it just did in tokyo. he found himself longing for a friend - and good thing he found someone.
well, no, someone found him, huddled up in a corner on the roof (because that's where people go when they're having trouble). they were ... nice. really nice. really bright and happy and saku had no idea why they even wanted to talk to him. he constantly rejected him (because god was he annoying), but in time found he rather enjoyed the boy's company ... and eventually made his first real friend.
they were friends for the remainder of middle school, but on his last year something happened that made saku want to sever all ties - and not just because saku transferred back to hokkaido. oh no, saku would constantly state it was the boy's fault. after that kiss, saku couldn't face him. especially when he found he rather liked the feeling of a boy's lips on his.
no no no, that was insane! he couldn't possibly like ... boys. he was thankful he didn't have to face him again for long, constantly avoiding him and slipping away. when given the choice to move back to hokkaido for high school, saku immediately accepted it. he didn't want to stay in tokyo any longer, and when given the chance, flew back to hokkaido to live with his grandparents.
hokkaido was better for him, he found, but not for long, because apparently, there was this great school for him - an all boys' school. he couldn't even say why he didn't want to go to this school, but it was too late. they wanted to send him to the best school possible, and this was better, because there were no girls to distract him.
oh, if they only knew.
