Haruko slept with Chouko's father, Rin Takahashi, seven years ago as a one night stand. She never expected to get pregnant from it, but she was young and stupid - nine months later Chouko came into her world. Her mother never told Rin - because honestly, she didn't think he would care. Chouko was raised by her mother without help from anyone else. Her grandparents wouldn't help her mother, because she shouldn't have been so foolish. She worked two jobs to keep food on the table and a roof over their heads - Chouko spent a lot of time with babysitters at a young age. Chouko was taught how to walk, talk, and use the toilet by her babysitter. Her name was Ayami, and she was a pleasant woman who did well with children. Chouko might have woke up to her mother in the morning, but she didn't get to see the woman for very long before she was dashing out the door again. This isn't to say her mother didn't love her - quite the contrary; the reason the woman was so absent was from her love. Baby food and other necessities are expensive. Her mother managed to get a better paying job when Chouko turned three, making her more active at home. This was disconcerting to the little girl, because she was so used to Ayami. She still saw Ayami, but it was unusual to see her mother so much. It was nice, but odd. At four, the little girl started going to pre-kindergarten at a local elementary school. There was even less of a need for Ayami at this time, and the little girl didn't like the change in her life at all. Her mother worked nights, so she still saw Ayami, but now she was being forced to go to this strange place with all these other children. After getting over the initial shock, Chouko made friends among her peers and she began to enjoy going to school. A few weeks ago, her mother was diagnosed with lung cancer. Smoking was the one vice she allowed herself, the only luxury she had allowed for herself to have. Everything else went to Chouko and the overall needs. She never smoked around Chouko - more because she wasn't around the little girl to have the need to than out of protectiveness - which was a little blessing. That didn't change the fact that she was too far along to save - she had months, if that, to live. Haruko had been selfless the last seven years, giving everything to her daughter instead of living her dreams. Now she only had months to live, and she had done nothing that she wanted to do with her life. She had intended to see the world, to jump out of a plane - and she couldn't do that with a child. So, she made the decision to find Rin and give him his child - neither had ever filed paperwork to keep the other away from the child. It might not be the smartest decision, but it was that or putting her into the foster system - and Haruko thought that her father would be the better choice. Her parents wouldn't take their granddaughter in, they disapproved of the illegitimate child, so Haruko felt it was the only choice. Ayami had been her first thought - but the woman couldn't afford to care for the child as a mother would. She packed up the little girl's things, buying her a few last special things while she could - that stuffed rabbit Chouko always wanted, a new yellow dress, little things like that, along with a letter from her so that the child would have something of her mother. A photo album she'd put together over the years - it was a poor little object, not what she would have wished it to be, but it was all she had - for the little girl to try to remember. Whatever she could do to make the change more amenable, she did. If she thought it would be okay, Haruko might have gotten her daughter a kitten, but she didn't know if Rin would want that or if he had allergies or anything like that. Chouko was brought, with her things, to her father. It took Haruko a little bit of searching, but she found him and told him that the girl was his daughter and that she was dying. It was a hard battle, but Haruko won in the end - it was her dying wish, for the man to care for his daughter because there was no one else who could. Chouko doesn't know what to think of her new surroundings. She believes her mother will be back eventually - she doesn't grasp the concept of death. She hasn't been back to school since she moved, and whether it's because her father forgot about school or that he wants her to adjust has yet to be seen.. Chouko doesn't want to live with her father; she wants to go home with her mommy - or Ayami if her mother really wasn't coming back. She doesn't think her mother is dying; she thinks that she just had to go away for awhile, but she'll be back. She doesn't know what to think of this man who is apparently her father - she doesn't know the man and he's odd. She wishes that she didn't have to stay with him. Even though it's her mother who is apparently dying, she misses Ayami more. Her mother got her that fluffy bunny she wanted. She named it after her mother, because it was the one thing her mother asked of her.[/style][STYLE=color: #191919; font-size: 10px; margin-top: 10px; margin-left: 10px;]LIKES & DISLIKES[/style][STYLE= margin: 0px 10px 0px 10px; border: 2px solid #191919; padding: 2px; font-family: verdana; height: 125px; overflow: auto; font-size: 10px; text-align: justify; background-color: #ffffff; opacity: 0.8] apple juice birds cake candy cotton candy clouds dresses kittens playing in sandboxes puppies rainbows sweets swing sets yellow bath time being put in time out big meanie faces biting bugs books without pictures braiding her hair cavities fighting going to the doctor losing her toys brown school shorts spiders [/style][STYLE=color: #191919; font-size: 12px; margin-top: 10px; margin-bottom: 10px; text-align: center; font-family: courier new]application was passed by brighty[/style] | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,0,true][atrb=valign,top][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=style, width: 40px;][STYLE=background-color: #f1e3b4; font-family: courier new; font-size: 30px; color: #404040; min-height: 150px; padding: 5px; text-align: center; moz-border-radius: 0px 10px 10px 0px; -o-border-radius: 0px 10px 10px 0px; border-radius: 0px 10px 10px 0px; -webkit-border-radius: 0px 10px 10px 0px;]c h o u[/style] |
