She'd never wanted a child. Jaime had been a mistake, from a man she didn't even know. A drunken night at a bar. She thought his name might have been Erik, or possibly Alek... Maybe Michel. Either way, the child wasn't planned, and frankly, when he was born, he wasn't wanted. Or rather, the feeling wasn't changed, as most mothers' feelings did, when they saw their babies, boys and girls. Jamie was a freak. Not allowed. His grandmother accepted him, begrudgingly, and taught him as he grew. When he turned four, she died, and without a mother that wanted him, or a father that knew him, he was sent to live at an orphanage. Life there was.. difficult, to be frank. He was taunted by the other children and the adults did nothing to hide his secret from them. He did gain a friend eventually, a girl named Lainey. He loved her very, very much. She was like a sister to him. They talked, and got on just great, and she always stood up for him, when he was bullied at primary school. When he turned twelve, she was adopted to a nice family in Bristol. He never saw her again, though she did write for a few months, before the letters stopped. He comforted in the thought that she probably was having a lot of fun with her new family, and she probably still loved him very much, and was just forgetting to write. But that hope only lasted so long, before he just felt lonely, and couldn't hope much anymore. When he was fourteen, his grades were remarkable, best of his class, and noted by schools. He was encouraged to apply for a scholarship to the Chishiki International Boys Academy by his supervisor, who stated that it would be a nice change from living at the orphanage.
