The Choucho academy has been a boarding school for girls since the early eighteenth century, and has never experienced anything short of a small flood in 1972. It's extremely well-known to have the best fine arts program in Hokkaido, and a very strict curriculum. Girls come from all over the world to attend the academy and scholarships are commonplace. There have been no reported incidents of vandalism in the academy for a long while, and no threats upon the student body or faculty have been made, according to the police. The fire seems to have started in the auditorium.Arson is undoubtedly the cause, but police have not yet stated whether they have any suspects. No one has reported seeing anyone around the building when the blaze caught and lit up its surroundings, and no one has stated if they knew if a teacher or student was hanging around late after school. The police force is in a whirlwind of confusion and many concerned parents have called from all across the globe. Though some students have returned home, most have been settled into a hostel for a small period of time as the faculty decided what to do. Rumors have circulated that school would be permanently canceled for the students until the building is rebuilt, but after a short correspondence with Chishiki Academy, they have decided to move the students there until their own school has been rebuilt. Older dorms that once housed staff and faculty when they were required to live at the school will be used to house the female students. The Choucho and Chishiki staff will work together and share classrooms that could not be housed in spare rooms. The adjustment is expected to be difficult for the students, but since the schools have long worked with the same curriculum and similar rules, it's expected to be a lot easier than other options. While police work to figure out what happened at the school, it's hoped that this occurrence will not badly affect the students of either school, and that they can learn to work with each other until the school is rebuilt. Just in case, however, security at Chishiki has increased. Students are expected to start classes at the beginning of next week, to prevent being too behind in their studies. Sport competitions were canceled for the remainder of the year. If you have any knowledge of what happened on the night of the sixth, please contact the police. [/style] |
