- Malard was born on a cold day in December on his parent's family home (which at the time was a farm house, in a more rural part of Japan). He had been expected to be a girl, and the couple planned to name him Lucy, however, when it turned out to be that Malard was a boy, they were at a loss for names for a few days. Neither of them could agree on a decent male name. They even consulted the pair of twins they already were parenting, whom were Malard's older brothers named Rudolph and Alifred. Neither of them came up with a name that would satisfy their mother. In a moment if irritation, the woman gathered up Malard, and took him out to the pond that was near to their house. As she sat, she took notice of how her son was fascinated by the ducks swimming in the pond and waddling around it. Thinking about it for a moment or two, she tried calling him Malard, and it stuck. When she told her husband, he was against naming their son after such an awkward creature, but he compromised, on one condition. He didn't want his sons name to be EXACTLY like that of the creature, and requested that one of the two "L's" be removed from it. His mother began to argue, but finally agreed to it because she knew that it might be the only good name that they could come up with again.
- Malard spent his childhood days chasing after his older brothers, Rudolph and Alifred. The two boys enjoyed their brothers constant begging and promises to do whatever they asked. Very often they would promise that he could play with him if he did certain things. Malard would always do them, but very rarely would his brothers allow him to tag along. One of their promises included Malard eating a worm, which he gladly did, however, his brothers not wanting to put up with his whining, merely told him "Pfft, you didn't do it right." Malard then learned to mistrust his brothers, he then stopped doing as they told him, he settled with playing with the animals around the farm.
- Malard's younger brother, Hogan, was born in late April, like Malard, he was born on the farm, but they had a name for him when he came into the world. Even though Malard was only eight, he wanted to help his mother out and spend time with his younger brother. His mother was surprised that he wasn't at all jealous, and was delighted to allow him to help out. Rudolph and Alifred ended up being ones to be jealous out of the bunch. They even actually grew to miss their little brother chasing them around, doing whatever they wanted when they wanted. Even offering him to play games with them, Malard refused, he'd taken to playing games with the newest member of the family, even if he couldn't do very much.
- At the age of ten, Malard's uncle (whom played the violin) and his aunt (whom played the flute) came to stay with the family for a few months while their house was being rebuilt after a fire happened and destroyed nearly half of it. The pair would often perform for the boys after dinner, mostly Celtic music, while his older twin brothers hated it, Malard fell in love with it. He became obsessed with the sounds of the instruments, and had to learn how to make them. Even going as far as to touch the instruments and try to play them when his aunt and uncle weren't around. Once his aunt caught him, he was terrified. She could've yelled at him, or done any number of things, but instead she offered to teach him to play the flute, and even convinced his uncle to teach him to play the violin. Malard learned quickly, and picked up their playing habits, such as the way his uncle starts off the pieces of music slowly, and works his way up to a faster pace, and the way his aunt would move with the music, she would sway, and shift her weight in the most graceful of ways. Even picking up the way she would move her fingers, in a smooth, flowing fashion, and never sudden or jerky. He soon became so well at both of the instruments that he had nearly caught up with both of them in skill level and even begun to perform for neighbors at events. His "clients" even began to give him small amounts of money for his services. From the day that he started earning money on, he was always open for a performance, and even started playing for tips at the small market up the road.
- When Malard was thirteen, his parents went to the local market up the road; it had been storming badly all day. Despite their children arguing against it, they went anyways. They claimed that they had to fix dinner, and were not going to listen to the boys whine because they were hungry. So the two got into the car, and drove off, leaving their children alone. On the way there, they got into a horrible argument, causing their father to let go of the steering wheel to attempt to handle their mother and calm her down before she hurt someone. They hit a muddy whole in the dirt road, causing them to suddenly turn and flip into a ditch. It was around this time that at home Malard got sick, and just barely made it to the bathroom in time. He couldn't express the feeling of terror he got, and the agonizing feeling that he knew something was dreadfully wrong. Their parents didn't come home that day, and at dawn, the police came, and told them what happened to their parents. Leaving the older boys to explain to Hogan that mommy and daddy wouldn't be coming back. Later that day, CPS came to pick them up, and placed them in the care of a wealthy couple. The boys of course, were upset, for a while, they all cried for their parents. Mainly Hogan, Malard suffered in silence until he managed to shove it in the back of his mind, where things he rarely thought of are kept.
- It had been only a few months when the wealthy man and woman they were now to see as "parents" had insisted on changing the children's last names. Rudolph, Alifred, and Hogan agreed to it, Malard did not, he even went as far as to say he would never bare their last name, and that he would never be their child and they couldn't prance about pretending that he someday would forget his parents and see them as a mother and father. The couple then dropped the idea, and then allowed the boys to keep their last names, and even though Hogan and the twins had begun to refer to the couple as their "parents", Malard never did. He loved them yes, but not as parents, he more saw them as just guardians. He soon felt horrible about his words and apologized, they forgave him, and even hugged Malard like his parents actually might, but he sensed that things would never be quite the same.
- At the public school the boys attended, Malard became fairly liked, even becoming one of the most loved and popular kids, he had many friends, and excelled at his school work, even passing up some of the other kids. This however, went on for many years unnoticed, it wasn't until his freshman year in high school that the couple that was caring for he and his siblings decided to encourage his academic development more by sending him off to a highly thought of academy. At first, Malard protested, saying that he didn't want to leave his friends behind, but soon enough, he warmed up to the idea of going to an all-boys school. The possibility of meeting new friends and having a little independence was too much to resist. He quickly accepted his guardian's offer, and hurriedly packed to leave, he made sure to include his laptop ( a gift from the man of the couple), his violin and flute (a gift from his aunt and uncle), and his stuffed bear. Saying his good byes to his brothers, things got a bit emotional with Hogan, but he promised the younger boy he would be back soon, and when he came back, they would play games and have fun until they both passed out. It would take some getting used to, not arguing with Rudolph and Alifred and not dressing the way he liked, but he could adapt to it. He was a bit skeptical about sharing a room with another boy though, since he knows how he sees some boys (often seeing them as attractive) , and didn't want to get a bad reputation. Who knows, it might turn out to be fun.

- Malard likes to keep where he came from under wraps, since people have teased him about being a farm boy before. He would rarely ever reveal this to someone unless he trusted them whole heartedly.
- Malard honestly prefers males to females, he will often claim otherwise. He prefers males because personally he likes to be the one being swept off his feet. Not the other way around
- He's not ashamed of the fact that he is adopted; he just doesn't feel comfortable accepting other people's sympathy. Although he does still get sad about it, he doesn't want a bunch of people taking time out of their busy lives to comfort him.
- Malard has eaten a worm before, due to a rather mean dare by one of his older brothers. Thankfully, he didn't get sick, but he did in fact get scolded for it. He doesn't like to broadcast this because his brother's friends used to taunt him as a kid; he would roll over and die if that happened again.
- Personally, he hates hair coming from anywhere other than his head, as a result, he shaves (legs, under arms, he oddly does not have to shave his face yet), whenever he does, he makes sure to hide the razor somewhere people would never look. Sometimes he loses them in their "hiding".
