His mother was a teacher, his father a computer analyst, and his older brother a crazy hooligan, they were a typical, picture-perfect family. Of course, on the inside, they had their problems just as another other family would. Daniel's father took to the bottle, a very angry man who liked to take his frustrations out on his wife and two kids, he often found himself screaming and hitting with no real control over his own emotions. The boy's mother was clinically insane, often having fits of depression where she would either disappear or refuse to speak to the rest of her immediate family. Other times, she would start to believe that her husband and children were out to kill her, bringing her to fits of throwing silverware, medication bottles, and often-times, bowls and plates. Daniel's older brother was a drug-addict, starting out with the usual marijuana before he began to take to the syringe, stealing money and expensive goods from both his parents and even his little brother, all to pay off the dealers from which he, usually, ended up taking more than he could afford from. However, it was nothing that the outside world would ever know, or even care to learn. When Daniel was eleven years old, his mother and father finally ended their marriage, making life around his abusive father more tolerable than it had been before. On the other hand, his mother's depression, anxiety, and bi-polar disorders did nothing but collapse, making her difficult to be around in general. And in her desperate attempts to keep one of her children from becoming a drug-addicted delinquent, she kept Daniel from the outside world as often as she was able to, hoping to make sure that he never gained any sort of bad influence from his peers-- or any influence at all, for that matter. Of course, Daniel did make one or two good friends during his High School hours, but when his home situations began to worsen once again, he worked to indulge in as many after-school activities as he possibly could. He was starting to become less socially awkward and more open to people, but come his Sophomore year of High School, his mother would simply not have him parading about with gay theatre kids, hippie artists, and lesbian wood-smiths. To keep him away from trouble (despite his lack of being in any trouble at all), she convinced Daniel's father to ship him off to an all boys' boarding school where.... all of the inhabitants were bound to speak a completely different language than his own. At least, he would want to be if ever given the chance to show it off. Classical music over a candle-lit dinner with rose pedals? He loves it. ○ Unlike most boys his age, Daniel is both nervous and fearful on the subject of... intimacy. With his clumsy nature and runny mouth, he is more aware than most would be of any possible screw-up that could possibly occur. ○ Speaking of screw-ups, Daniel frequently envisions horrifying fiascoes in his mind before ever even going out on exploits. If there is some sort of upcoming event, chances are that he has already come up with twenty reasons why his partaking in the festivities would be a terrible idea-- though he is almost always bound to show up, despite his horrid visions. ○ Though Daniel truly enjoys his literature, most of the time when he picks up a book, he is just attempting to escape from making awkward conversation with the people around him. He loves people, and he loves talking to people... just not all of the time. Likewise, when he joins in philosophical conversations with friends, he typically half-asses everything he says-- he just does it fairly well. This is also how he passes most of his classes.
